I'm not zooming in on MS specifically, my comment is generally meant. That is why I'm referring to Sun, Citrix and others (see the table) I'm just saying, be weary of the competition, they are closing in fast.

Keep an open eye for them or you might be taken by surprise. There are many excamples for that in the past, small and large.

That is all :)

Read the article(s) and the conclusion, not only the title.

For now: Hyper-V, NOT IN MY DATACENTER (yet).

True, the competition is coming but as for MS/Hyper-V, they have a loooooong way to go and VMware is also on the move. So idd the next few years will be very interesting and I'm looking forward to that.

But until then, VMware over MS any/every time.

I'm aware of the attempts by Microsoft and many others to produce enterprise class virtualisation software. VMware is the market leader and has been for many years, there is no doubt about that.

However, you see the market is changing and VMware's competition is rapidly approaching. Citrix with Xen, Sun with it's Virtualbox, MS is already working on Hyper-V v2.. and there are many others working on their own products. Check this table, the list is pretty impressive..

Beware to keep an open mind. Virtualisation is growing quickly and many OEMs want to jump on that train. Developments are moving forward with lightspeed. Don't rule out the other vendors too quickly.

I think the next year or two will be quite interesting regarding virtualisation. Let's keep our eyes open and watch the trends that come up :)
