NEW Enterprise Hypervisor comparison

Two weeks ago VMware released the new version of their vSphere hypervisor, so it’s time to update our Enterprise Hypervisor comparison. It very impressive to see how quick VMware has reacted to the Hyper-V 3 announcements and has taken most of the wind out of the Microsoft sails.

I hope you find the new Enterprise Hypervisor comparison useful and feel free to contact us when you have feedback for us to improve the list.
The information on Microsoft Server 2012 Hyper-V features is very inconsistent, many different values out there.

In this version I added 10 new criteria. Many of these criteria should, in my opinion, be available in hypervisors suitable for enterprise environments.

You can find the new and improved Enterprise Hypervisor comparison here.

Imtech ICT promoted to VMware Premier Partner

When we joined Imtech ICT two years ago, the VMware sales was disappointing and we where demoted from VMware Premier to Enterprise Partner. After one and a half years of hard work we managed to get back on top and today we received the message that Imtech ICT has been promoted to VMware Premier Partner!

This is great news as there are only 5 Premier Partners in the Netherlands, SLTN, PQR , Centric, CamIT and now Imtech ICT. This is a great reward of our hard work so VMware thank you very much for this acknowledgment.

For those of you who have never heard of the VMware Premier Partnership,VMware Premier Partners have made a commitment to invest in the VMware partnership through dedicated technical, sales and support resources, and have demonstrated this consistently over time.

VMware rewards Premier Partners with the highest level of enablement, support and rewards and they are authorized to sell the full VMwareproduct line. Taking a solution-oriented approach, Premier Partners engage in complex solution offerings and demonstrate high levels of skill.

10 things you should know about Cisco UCS

Two years ago the HP Vice President for Enterprise Servers Storage and Networking, Randy Seidl, said the following:

A year from now the difference will be (Cisco) UCS (Unified Compute System) is dead and we have had phenomenal market share growth in the networking space.

Man, he must feel pretty stupid right now. In Q2 of 2012 Cisco realized a 22% market share in the blade server market in North America and a 15% market share worldwide. How’s that for being dead, mister Seidl?

I have sold Cisco UCS solutions for about 18 months now and Cisco has definitely made a good impression in the server market. But there are still a lot of people (customers, (former) colleagues, VMware enthusiasts) who have vaguely heard of Cisco UCS but don’t see the distinct differences with blade server solutions like those from HP, IBM, Dell or Fujitsu.

So I decided to sum up

10 things you should know about Cisco UCS
